Cracked or Broken Laptop LCD Screen

The versatility of Laptops allows us to work just about anywhere at any time.  You might find yourself working more often and for longer periods of time resulting from this convenience. Laptops will occasionally needs hardware replaced from either normal use, adverse conditions such as extreme temperatures, spills or accidental drops. Whatever the situation, repairs should be completed by either a Vendor Partner of the laptop manufacturer or an Authorized Repair Center.

One of the common parts that need to be replaced on laptops is the LCD Screen.  If you experience a darker screen than usual, lines in the resolution (as shown below), or turn your laptop on but cannot see any picture on the screen, or drop the laptop,  it is most likely that you need to either replace a part associated with the LCD Screen or the entire LCD screen itself. Repairs should be completed by a well established IT Company that has extensive experience in laptop repair.

A common reaction by consumers is to forego any repairs and purchase a new laptop.  The average cost for the LCD Screen part will range depending on the size of the screen, resolution type and the manufacturer. The cost for other LCD associated parts is less than half the cost of the screen. The average price for a decent laptop can range from $899-$1800 and that is before you assign a cost/convenience for the following:                    

Software Applications: What is the estimated replacement cost of software applications that are essential to your productivity? You might not have a license key that can be transferred from your current system to a new laptop or you may have an unlicensed version of a software application.  The cost to purchase these proprietary programs can range in price depending on the application.                                                                                                                                         

Working with a different Operating System: If your damaged laptop has Windows XP as the Operating System, you might not be able to find a new laptop with that same Operating System configuration. Microsoft Vista is the primary Operating System that comes licensed with new laptops now.  There are many proprietary Software Applications in specific industries and hardware/peripherals that are not compatible with the Vista Operating System thus defeating your plan entirely.                                                                                                                                  

The existing data on your damaged laptop: If you choose to replace your laptop with a new system, a decision must be made about the existing data on your laptop with the broken LCD Screen. Transferring the data to your new system is an option that can cost between $150-$250.
